Style file: Mary Emmerling

Although I have a very eclectic sense of style, I find myself being continually drawn to classic designs. Perhaps this is why I'm obsessed with the Arizona home of Country Home's Creative Director, Mary Emmerling. This shot of her home office was taken in September, 2004 and is every bit as relevant now as it was 3 years ago. Mary stuck to design staples such as kilim rugs, leopard print stools, black and white photography, and of course a sawhorse desk! The combo is absolutely timeless. Below are some more pics of her style infused home. The Mason Desk from Williams Sonoma Home is almost identical to Mary's. For lighting, try Ikea's Antifoni table lamp, Ottomans- Ballard Design's Courbe Ottoman, Pottery Barn for wicker baskets and ABC for rugs.

I'm a big fan of Mary Emmerling's design style. I'm an art director for a major window company and while we were photoshooting the 2006 Country HOme house in Arizona, I saw the prints on the media room wall with the cactus in the blue/white pots. I would love to have a set of these prints, and wonder if someone can tell me where these came from or who the artist is? I'd really appreciate it! Thanks so much! Mary Anderson

You must be so sad about the end of Country Home magazine. I posted a tribute to them here http://anadesigns.blogspot.com/2009/02/country-home-magazine.html

Mary Emmerling is a classic talent. When her magaizne folded, I was so sad, when Country Home folded, I was bereft. I need my M.E. fix. Her style is identifiable, and instantly recognizable. Hope she is putting a book together -- can't get enough of Mary's style.

I am looking to find a source for the angel with trumpet and glass posey holder that was in the December / January 2007 issue of Country Home.

I know the magazine is no longer published, but I'd love to find where to purchase this piece.

If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it!

I want to put in my two cents in the conversation too , and praise Mary Emmerling for her love and dedication to furnishing the American home . My stack of old Country Home magazines get more precious as the years go by .
