Meet the new Kate Spade!

Ok, so I realize this is slightly old news, BUT I just found out that Banana Republic's EVP of Product Design and Development, Deborah Lloyd, was named Creative Director and Co-president of Kate Spade! What a perfect fit! She will oversee all creative aspects of the Kate Spade and Jack Spade Brands, including product design, merchandising, creative services and public relations. Prior to Banana Republic, Loyd worked as VP of design for Burberry London for 5 years.

The image at left from Lloyd's BR Fall 2004 collection shows such a strong resemblance to the Kate Spade aesthetic. So as sad as I am to see Kate and Andy leave, I'm excited to see what Deborah will bring to the table. It's rumored that she will launch Kate Spade jewelry in Fall 2009 as well as an apparel collection in Spring 2010! For more info, check out the articles on Dexigner and Fabsugar.

Lloyd's office at BR can be seen in the September 2005 issue of Domino. She feels that "ugly things" kill creativity (so she moved her ugly fax machine elsewhere) and likes to write notes and speeches on Smythson's classic blue blocks of paper. (Click on the image to enlarge. Photo: Hugh Stewart)

You'll be happy to know that the spread of this office is in my tear sheet book. It's beautiful. Great work on the blog. Keept the posts coming.

I'm also sad to see Kate leaving, but I am really interested to see what will happen with the company now...

I love your blog!!!! I must admit that I spent my entire day off Sunday looking at the photos and reading your comments. I desperately want everything you showed! When I got to school on Monday, I showed another teacher who immediately bookmarked it!
