Calling all interns!

Photo: Kate Spade ad

Ok so I admit: I can't stop thinking about work while on vacation! But I'm excited to let you all know that I'm looking for a new Rubie Green intern and will be interviewing candidates when I return! Ideally I'd love to work with somebody who is passionate about design, and excited to learn and help with everything from the mundane stuff (mailing swatches, running errands etc.) to the more exciting tasks such as helping out on photo shoots and design work! Knowledge in photoshop/illustrator for textile design is a definite plus, as is a great sense of humor ;) The position will be unpaid (sorry :( but you'll learn a lot and will be introduced to a ton of great contacts!) and I'm looking for somebody who can work at least three days per week. So if you have any interest or questions, please email me at rubieintern@gmail.com

Umm, in case you didn't know, but unpaid internshios are not ethical, nor are they legal. "The United States Department of Labor requires any employee whose efforts benefit the employer both directly and indirectly to be compensated under the laws governing minimum wage." For a really great discussion on this topic, please see section E. Unpaid Internships in the article "Composing the Personal Narrative Archinect's Official Portfolio Guide Part II: The Search for Employment"
