Zzz

Photo: Patrick Cline
For the past few nights I've been a complete insomniac, awake at the strangest hours wondering what's going on, and pondering silly things like whether to redecorate my bedroom for the umpteenth time, whether I paid my electricity bill, how I'm ever going to fit all my clothes inside my teeny closet, etc. So tonight as I lay restlessly in bed trying to think cozy thoughts, I was reminded of this photo that Patrick took of the John Derian store down in the east village. We were out shooting one day just as it was starting to get dark, and I dragged Pat over to East 2nd Street and crossed my fingers that his photo would do the shop justice. Sure enough it did :) It's one of my favorite shops to visit on gloomy days because of the soft warm lighting and endless curiosities. So tonight while the rest of you are sleeping, I'll continue to count sheep...and bulldog decoupage plates, old love letters, red seaweed, the usual ;)

Oh so pretty. That pictures puts my mind at ease. I hope you were able to fall asleep.

I know the feeling. It's hard when you can't get your mind to stop racing.

ooooh - i love red seaweed! You crack me up Michelle. I can only imagine how busy your brain is at the moment! When I was planning my little online store my mind ran at a million miles an hour - so I took to writing things down on post it notes. i had post it notes EVERYWHERE. would have been better just to keep a list on ONE SHEET of paper, but no. That would have made sense...... gorgeous looking shop. On my must do list when I finally get to NY x

I just love that picture. I completely understand where you are coming from and I hope the insomnia gets better. Green tea usually helps, decaffeinated of course. You are such an inspiration and have such an amazing sense of style. When you have a chance, which I know can be rare i would love for you to stop by my blog and tell me what you think of the forest I created in my bedroom.

If only they would open in the middle of the night to let you amble around when insomnia strikes! The TV infomercials are boring too. There should be more insomnia entertainment out there :)

That is rather inviting. I adore unusual shops and only found some in far flung places, Venice, Joburg, not yet in London.

As to what an earlier commenter said, young people suffer from insomnia just as much and do recover :)

I'll try and remember red seaweed next time I encounter insomnia - the last result of which (key word: caffeine) is shown on my blog.

After dinner, go get a pedicure with a relaxing foot massage. Sip chamomile tea just before bed. Tuck a lilac sachet in your pillow. Then sit back and realize everyone whom you inspire on a daily basis. You'll be relaxed and satisfied all at once.

Don't worry, you're not alone. Unfortunately I've been having some of the same sleep issues.

Hope you can get some (good) sleep soon!

I love that store, I have visited it often!! Have you ever been to The Upper Rust? That's another one of my favorites in the E. Village.
